DEAR YMCA COLLEAGUES

As leaders of the YMCA of the USA, the YMCA Retirement Fund, Springfield College and the Association of YMCA Professionals, we serve as sponsoring organizations of the YMCA Hall of Fame at Springfield College. We are committed to honoring our YMCA heritage, but humbled by the task. About 30 years ago, then NYC YMCA CEO Bill Howes and others took the initiative to establish the YMCA Hall of Fame to recognize the contribution made by significant careers to the history of this great institution.

As you can see by the distinction and impact of the inductees of the Class of 2010, we are now focused on elevating the YMCA Hall of Fame to a level commensurate with our institutional legacy, fully incorporating our history by inducting past heroes, and educating today’s workforce about that history. By utilizing the best possible technology, we will develop an effective web presence and traveling exhibition to further support these initiatives. There will be direct interchangeability in the physical location at the Stitzer YMCA Center at Springfield College, web presence, and traveling exhibit.
