STAFF INDUCTEES
MANY TALENTED, HARD-WORKING PROFESSIONALS OVER THE PAST 160 YEARS HAVE MADE THE YMCA MOVEMENT WHAT IT IS TODAY
These YMCA leaders who were visionaries and pioneers, touched the lives of millions – often quietly, and without any award or acclaim during their lifetimes. The YMCA Hall of Fame, established on the Springfield College campus in January 1985, provides an institution to honor these YMCA professionals.
More than 100 people have been inducted into the YMCA Hall of Fame since its inception. These fine men and women personify what is best about the YMCA, having devoted their lives to building a community where individuals can develop to their fullest potential in Spirit, Mind and Body. Visit the YMCA Hall of Fame webpage on the Springfield College website. Go to www.springfieldcollege.edu/YMCAHallOfFame for complete biographies.

STAFF INDUCTEES
JOHN CASEY (1938- )
John Casey’s commitment to addressing social issues in one’s community started with his work as the Vice-President of Program Development and Government Relations for the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, where he had primary responsibility for developing and coordinating social programs addressing day care for low-income children, juvenile delinquency, adult and youth employment, and drug and alcohol counseling. John went on to serve the World Alliance of YMCAs in Geneva, Switzerland as Secretary General. This was a significant honor in the history of the YMCA Movement as he was the first Roman Catholic and first local YMCA executive to hold the post as well as being the first American in 35 years. In this role, he expanded disaster relief efforts, integrated women into world-wide leadership roles in the YMCA, led the campaign to ban land mines and created pathways for conflict resolution and youth work. His greatest legacy is the focus on youth work which still echoes around the globe with the International Youth Internship Program and the Global Youth Leadership Program.
